You're looking for a case that will fit your iPhone 13?

These are our top picks for iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max Cases -- many of which are MagSafe-compatible.

Although the dimensions for the iPhone 13 line models are similar to their iPhone 12 counterparts. The new models also have some design differences to the camera bump and are slightly thicker overall. Although the iPhone 13 is more of an update than a complete redesign of the iPhone 12, small design differences can lead to cases not fitting the iPhone 13. The iPhone 13 Pro, Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro models will require a new iPhone case.

Is it worth getting a MagSafe box?

All iPhone 13 models now come with Apple's MagSafe, which provides faster wireless charging for compatible chargers. Magsafe wallets, mini wallets, and mounts are all supported. Apple calls it an "array of magnets", similar to the iPhone 12, and embedded around a charge coil that can pull up 15 watts.

MagSafe accessory can be used on any phone that is equipped with a MagSafe case. MagSafe symbols look like a circle and a pipe beneath it. Although it can be seen on clear cases, it is embedded inside the case. If it isn't transparent, it will be visible from the inside.

MagSafe compatible cases can be purchased if you have an accessory to MagSafe or are planning to purchase MagSafe accessories. The majority of cases in this roundup can be used with MagSafe.

MagSafe case more expensive?

Yes. It costs about $10 more. MagSafe cases available for around $20, although most MagSafe cases will cost you upwards to $30. We've seen cases from different companies that look the same but have MagSafe. MagSafe version is usually sold for $10 more. MagSafe compatibility is often a lower price than the MagSafe version.

What protective case should I buy

I prefer cases that aren’t too thin but have decent drop protection. These cases often have a lip at the edge of your screen (sometimes called a “screen bumper”) and raised corners to prevent your screen cracking if you drop your phone face down. A folio cover will better protect your screen.

The good news? You don't have a need for a very protective case such as the OtterBox Defender. Even though most cases are thin, they offer protection of at least 6 feet from a drop. This list does not include a thin case, but I did include it for those who require minimal protection. You should consider the cost of your iPhone before you purchase a case. However, it's better than not having any protection at all. For iPhone 13 models, ensure you get a solid tempered glass screen protector to protect the screen and prevent scratches.

Most of these picks are based off the positive experiences that I have had with the same brands in the iPhone 12 Series (and older models). I will keep updating this list with new iPhone 13 case options as they become available. I aim to include all styles, from the slimmer to the more protective to those that have full-screen coverage and other handy features like a wallet or kickstand. While many of these links link directly to the manufacturer's websites, you can expect the cases to be available at Amazonand more retailers in the very near future.

Consistently high-quality iPhone case

Speck has made many of its iPhone 12 design available to the iPhone 13, including popular transparent models such as the Presidio Perfect-Clear (the pink one) and Perfect-Clear w/ Grips (the blue one). Speck's gripcase with MagSafe added cost $10. MagSafe cases are preferred because you can attach a MagSafe accessory directly on the case and not to your smartphone.

All new models come with good drop protection (13-16 feet depending on model), as well Speck's Microban protection. The cases can be purchased in a range of colors starting at $40, with Speck offering discounts for first-time purchasers.

If you're looking for a less expensive Speck case, the gemshell translucent cases iPhone 13 sell for around $15 on Amazon. The ombre version I love. These don't come with MagSafe.

Solid iPhone case less than $20

Cyrill, which is a sister brand from Spigen, offers a more stylish case for a fraction of the price. We're linking here to the Leather Brick (pictured in cream) but you can also check out the $17 Silicone or transparent $17 Cecile cases. The Silicone is essentially a knockoff Apple's Silicone with no MagSafe.

MagSafe is the best affordable case

MagSafe cases can cost quite a lot, but Spigen's Ultra Hybrid Mag, which costs around $20, is a great value. Spigen also has a non Mag version of this case that costs $5 less. Spigen Mag Armor is also an option, but it was easier to use the Ultra Hybrid Mag.

Spigen transparent cases are not listed as having a drop rating, but they provide adequate protection. Spigen Tough Armor cases are available for $17. But I prefer Spigen Ultra Hybrids (the Ultra Hybrid S includes an integrated kickstand).

These cheaper clear cases tend to turn yellow and become less translucent over time.

MagSafe case and stand combination

Moft Set: Moft Case and Stand

This combination is great for anyone looking for a MagSafe Case and MagSafe wallet that can be converted into a stand. Moft will sell the combo for $58 in a number of color options during a pre-BlackFriday sale. This is a great price for a case and MagSafe stand accessory that can store three credit cards.

Best slim OtterBox cases

OtterBox Symmetry Series Plus

OtterBox's Defender series case was a success, but people nowadays want something more compact. Symmetry has a slim design with beveled edges. This makes it stylish and protective. A raised bumper acts like a screen protector.

You have a variety of color options. Clear is also available. My favorite is the Symmetry Plus Clear MagSafe (pictured at the center in red). On the left you can see the Symmetry Plus Pop cover. This case integrates a PopSockets PopGrip, and is wireless charging compatible. The Symmetry Series Plus Case (in pink), is also available in other colors. A MagSafe version can be purchased for $10.

Prices range from $50-60. OtterBox offers discounts for first-time buyers.

OtterBox’s Commuter case has raised bezel protection. It is also slim and lightweight, with grips on the rear. I love that model. You can also get MagSafe for $10 less.

MagSafe is a great case

MagSafe - LifeProof

I've had many case samples but this is one of my all-time favorites. OtterBox owns LifeProof. You can definitely see (excuse my pun) the influence LifeProof has had on its See MagSafe case. The OtterBox Symmetry Series cases have arguably a cleaner look and better lines.

The clear version of this case without MagSafe is also available for $10 less ($50), however, the clear case is the best choice if MagSafe is important to you. The case is available in several colors, including the one shown here. It is listed as purple/pink, although it reads more burgundy.

LifeProof's other cases - the Next ($80) and Fr ($100), all return with the iPhone 13 and, while they're good and have MagSafe (except for Wake), the See is best for everyday use. Although they all have the same 6.6 foot drop protection, the Next and Fre models offer better dust and water resistance than the See.

LifeProof like other case-makers has made a shift to being more environmentally conscious in recent times. LifeProof's Wave uses 85% of the recycled plastic found in oceans, while other LifeProof cases use 45-50%.

Leather cases in shiny shades

Nomad's Horween-leather iPhone 13 cases are now available. Similar to previous Nomad models they will develop a "rugged” patina from oils that interact with them over time. Modern Leather Cases can be purchased in black, brown, or a lighter natural color. I love them. They can withstand drops up to 10 feet (3m) and are equipped with MagSafe. The Modern Leather Folio sells for $80.

For $40, you can get the Sport version. Although it's not a genuine leather case, it looks great.

Slim, stylish, protective iPhone case

British case-maker Gear4, now owned Zagg, makes cases comparable to OtterBox, Speck, and other brands. Each case is lined with D3O shock-absorbing material from the company and has beveled edges that protect your phone. I have tried the Santa Cruz Snap (left), as well as Brooklyn Snap (right), which are both MagSafe-equipped and can withstand drops of up to 13 feet. There are many other options, and most of them have eye-catching designs.
