“Twitter is all about immediacy,” says Swider. “It forces you to break down your message – 280 characters maximum – which makes it the fastest way to share it with an audience and the fastest way for your audience to consume information.”
One way to stand out from others and share your message effectively is to include pictures, videos, and GIFs in your tweets. A picture is worth a thousand words.
In fact, tweets are getting with video 10x more engagement than those without.

Tip 3: Use trending topics to your advantage
As mentioned earlier, conversation is everything on Twitter – and this includes conversations with people outside of your existing followers.
Since the Twitter timeline is published in chronological order, you can easily jump to trending topics for the latest insights and perspectives.

If you’re not ready to host your own twitter chat, find twitter chats in your niche and join in!
Talking to others on Twitter who have interests similar to you or your brand will make you accessible to relevant and engaged audiences. This is a great way to increase your number of followers.
Tip 5: create public Twitter lists
Creating public Twitter lists can help increase your number of followers as they give a sense of exclusivity.
And when Twitter users are added to a list, they receive a notification that can encourage them to follow you or your brand.
Black women photographers, an organization dedicated to providing resources for black women photographers, has created several Twitter lists that act as directories to find magazine editors, journalists, photography museums, art directors, and more.

TIP: Before adding someone to a list, make sure they belong to your audience and that the list is relevant to their interests and tweets.
Tip 6: use Twitter fleets
Twitter fleets (Twitter version of Instagram Stories) are relatively new to the platform but are growing in popularity.
