Pinterest has introduced a new comprehensive storytelling feature for developers: Pinterest Story Pins.

This new feature comes along with a number of creator-first capabilities, including a new creator profile and analytics tools to track performance.

What are Pinterest Story Pins?

Story Pins are the newest way for developers to share engaging multimedia stories with their audience on Pinterest.

It gives developers the ability to tell dynamic and visual stories with videos, voice-over, and image and text overlays.

On mobile devices, Story Pins are presented as a series of image or video pages that can be accessed in a similar way to them Instagram stories.

Story Pins are great for curated editorial functions like recipes, product details, brand stories, recommendations, and even travel guides.

At the end of the story pin, users can respond to the content they discover with a range of positive responses such as “Great Idea”, “Love”, “Wow” and “Thank you”.

Like all Pins, Story Pins can be saved to boards for later and are discoverable over time.

The feature is currently only available to a select number of lifestyle content creators in the United States, including Coco Bassey, Camille Styles, and Unconventional Southern Belle, but will be delivered to international developers in the coming months. Pinterest users in the US will see Story Pins on iOS, Android and the web starting today.

How to Create a Story Pin: A Step-by-Step Guide

Pinterest Story Pins is currently in beta testing with a select number of US developers, but should roll out to international developers in the coming months.

If you’re interested in becoming a creator on Pinterest and using Story Pins, please sign up Here.

Once you have access, here’s how you can create your first Pinterest Story Pin:

Step 1: Log into your Pinterest business account and click Create Story Pin.

Step 2: C.Click Create Story Pin, click the down arrow, and then select or drag and drop 1 or up to 20 pictures or videos from your computer to add the pictures or videos.

Step 3: Use the tools on the right side of the screen to design your pages.

  • Layout: Click Layout to choose a layout for your page and choose or change the background color
  • To adjust: Click Picture or Video to adjust and resize your picture or video
  • Text: Click Text to add text and choose your font, size, alignment, color, or highlighting

Step 4: Click the plus icon in the top left to add more pictures or videos. To change your font, layout, or background on multiple pages, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and select the pages you want to edit.

Step 5: Click Next, select a detail topic from the drop-down menu and add details to your PIN.

Step 6: Next, fill in the information about your PIN:

  • Story Pin Title: Add a title for your PIN
  • Board Selector: From the drop-down menu, select a public board that you want to save your story pin on
  • Keywords: Find up to 10 tag topics and add them to your Story Pin to reach people looking for similar ideas

Step 7: Click Published and you’re done!
