The most reliable website for hosting companies as of August 2020 was owned by Choopa.com, with no failed requests and the fastest average connection time. Choopa.com had three times the most reliable website for hosting companies in 2020. The company offers a range of services including cloud hosting, dedicated servers, colocation and managed services in four locations in the US, Europe and Asia.
Swishmail came in second and also answered all of Netcraft’s inquiries in August. In addition to hosting solutions, Swishmail also offers business e-mail services.
Rackspace, Bigstep and EveryCity appear in positions three, four and five. Rackspace had the second fastest average connect time and was featured in the top 10 six times in 2020. Bigstep offers “bare metal” cloud hosting to provide the flexibility of cloud hosting, but without the overhead and performance degradation of virtualization. EveryCity was featured in the top 10 seven times in 2020 and is the only website to use SmartOS.
Linux continues to dominate the top 10 in August, with eight of the top 10 sites using the operating system. SmartOS is featured with EveryCity and FreeBSD is used by the New York Internet (NYI).
Netcraft measures and provides the response times of around twenty websites from leading hosting providers. Performance measurements are taken at 15 minute intervals from various points on the Internet and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.
From the customer’s point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more relevant than outages on the websites of the hosting company, as this gives an indication of the reliability of the routing. For this reason, we rank our table according to the fewest failed requests rather than the shortest downtime. If the number of failed requests is the same, the sites are ranked by average connection times.
Information on the measurement process and current measurements are available.
