This message will self-destruct in seven days – but only if WhatsApp users so wish.
Facebook’s own messaging application added the option to disappear messages on Thursday. When this option is enabled, new messages for chats will be removed within seven days.
Each participant in one-on-one chats has the choice to turn disappearing messages on or off, while this responsibility lies in groups with the administrator.
WhatsApp said in a blog post on Thursday: “We start with seven days because we believe conversations are not permanent but remain practical so you don’t forget what you were talking about. The shopping list or business address you received a few days ago is there while you need it and then disappears if you don’t. “
More information can be found here. WhatsApp announced that the feature will roll out globally this month.
